“It was at Ms. Holmes' funeral later in the semester, that her last words to me – to "make a way for myself" – resonated deeply. It encouraged me to apply to Tuskegee Next in hopes of taking advantage of the valuable resources and opportunities provided to cadets.”

About Me:
I'm a Second-year Aviation Management major at Hampton University, hailing from Chicago, Illinois! My fascination with aviation took-off in 2013 with my very first flight, igniting a burning passion for the industry and a dream for a life in the sky.

When I'm not immersed in the world of aviation, you can find me engaged with the Hampton University Chapter of the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals (OBAP) or making music as a Violinist in the Hampton University Chamber Orchestra. Outside of these, I love spending time with friends, listening to music, and traveling.

Why are you passionate about aviation?
Interestingly enough, I never really thought about why I was drawn to aviation or why it was so special to me. Looking back, it all really just happened. One day I was this kid who was drawing boats and ships on notebook paper and then I took my first flight and suddenly I had a flight simulator, and my room was filled with model planes, pictures, and books about aviation.

To me, my love for aviation is one of those things you can't explain but something you feel. Every time I experience anything with aviation, it lights something up and brings joy and intrigue. If anything, I believe it's that wonder and awe-factor that draws me to the skies.

Why did you choose to apply to Tuskegee NEXT and how did you hear about the program?
My introduction to Tuskegee Next came through my mentor, Tammera Holmes of the Aerostar Avion Institute. While I started my flight training at Hampton, unforeseen setbacks halted my training indefinitely, leaving me without direction. It was at Ms. Holmes' funeral later in the semester, that her last words to me – to "make a way for myself" – resonated deeply. It encouraged me to apply to Tuskegee Next in hopes of taking advantage of the valuable resources and opportunities provided to cadets.

What are your future aviation aspirations?
Currently my main goal is to get my degree from Hampton as well as my masters in Aviation Management, and from there become a pilot for a major US airline while possibly exploring other avenues in the industry as well.

Fun Fact:
Before I became interested in aviation, I wanted to be a naval architect.
